Leave Management

Request time off and track approval within policy limits. Sophie submits PTO in two minutes; managers approve without leaving the portal.

Real-world scenario

Sophie Park · Software Engineer at Bluewave Labs

Sophie is taking Friday off after shipping a feature. She requests one day of PTO, Jordan Lee approves from Manager View, and the team calendar shows her absence for standup planning.

Before you begin

  • Employee portal access
  • Leave policies configured in My Organization → Configurations
  • Manager assigned on your employee profile

Overview

Leave management lets you request time off and see approval status without emailing HR. Policies, balances, leave types, blackout dates, come from org configuration. Your manager is whoever is set on your employee profile in the directory.

Request leave

  1. 1

    Check your leave balance

The dashboard widget shows remaining PTO, sick days, and other types Priya configured in org settings.

  2. 2

    Click Request Leave

Open the leave form from the widget or Employee Portal → Leave.

  3. 3

    Select dates and leave type

Choose PTO, sick, or parental leave. Half-days are supported when your policy allows them.

  4. 4

    Add notes and submit

Optional context helps your manager plan coverage, "OOO for moving day" is enough.

  5. 5

    Wait for manager approval

Your manager approves or rejects from Team Management. Approved leave appears on your calendar.

Sophie's Friday PTO request

  • Leave type: PTO
  • Dates: Friday, June 13, 2026 (full day)
  • Balance before: 12 days
  • Balance after approval: 11 days
  • Approver: Jordan Lee. Approved

Plan ahead for long trips

Requests that exceed your balance or overlap blackout periods are rejected automatically. Check your balance on the dashboard before booking flights.
