My Organization

Org Chart

Visualize reporting lines and control what employees see, so Priya can roll out a reorg without leaking executive-only branches to the whole company.

Real-world scenario

Priya Mehta · People Ops Lead at Bluewave Labs

Engineering is splitting into Platform and Product groups. Priya updates manager assignments in the employee directory, then checks the org chart to make sure the new structure looks right before employees see it in the portal.

Before you begin

  • Employee records with manager relationships populated
  • Org admin access to My Organization

Overview

The org chart visualizes who reports to whom across WorkVerge. Admins work in My Organization → Org Chart; employees see a filtered version in the Employee Portal. Both views respect the same visibility rules you configure here.

Features

  1. 1

Open My Organization → Org Chart

You will see the reporting hierarchy built from employee manager relationships in the directory.

  2. 2

    Expand and collapse departments

Click nodes to drill into teams. Large orgs stay navigable when you focus one branch at a time.

  3. 3

    Search for an employee

Jump directly to a person's node, useful when Priya needs to confirm who reports to whom before updating a reorg.

  4. 4

    Configure visibility rules

Hide sensitive levels or restrict branches so employees see an appropriate slice of the company in the portal.

  5. 5

    Verify the Employee Portal view

Open the portal org chart as a test user to confirm visibility rules match what leadership expects.

  • Interactive expand/collapse by department
  • Search for employees and jump to their node
  • Visibility rules, hide levels or restrict sensitive branches
  • Employee Portal chart respects the same rules as the admin view

Visibility example after the Engineering split

  • Visible to all staff: Department heads and their direct reports
  • Hidden from portal: Board advisor nodes and contract-only roles
  • Manager view: Direct reports plus one level down for coverage planning

Configure visibility

Chart visibility is managed from org configuration alongside branding and role permissions. Updates propagate within minutes to portal users, no separate publish step.

Sync manager data first

If the chart looks wrong, fix manager assignments in Employees & Teams before adjusting visibility. The chart reads from the directory; it does not maintain its own hierarchy.
