ITAM / Asset Tagger

QR Config

Set label size and PDF layout before Carlos prints 62 Austin QR stickers, wrong dimensions mean smudged scans on audit day.

Real-world scenario

Carlos Reyes · IT Admin at Bluewave Labs

Carlos configures QR Config for 30mm labels on Avery 5160 sheets before bulk-generating Austin office codes. After save, bulk generate produces PDFs that print cleanly and scan reliably during the 3rd-floor audit.

Before you begin

  • Admin or asset manager access to Asset Tagger
  • Label printer specs handy (size, sheet layout)

Overview

QR Config controls how new codes are generated, size, format, and scan behavior. Carlos sets this once per label batch; changes apply only to newly generated codes, not stickers already on Austin desks.

Configuration options

  • Size. QR dimensions for print quality (e.g. 30mm × 30mm)
  • Format. PNG, SVG, or PDF export for bulk sheets
  • URL format. Device detail link encoded in each code
  • Redirect behavior. Login prompt for unauthenticated scans

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Open ITAM → Physical Assets → Asset Tagger → QR Config

Review current settings before Carlos bulk-generates 62 Austin labels.

  2. 2

    Set QR code size

Choose dimensions that match your label printer, 30mm is common for laptop stickers.

  3. 3

    Choose output format

PNG for individual images; PDF for multi-label sheets sent to the Austin office printer.

  4. 4

    Confirm URL format and redirect

Codes should open device detail when scanned while logged in. Unauthenticated scans may prompt login.

  5. 5

    Save configuration

New settings apply to the next bulk generate, existing printed labels keep working.

Example settings

Bluewave Labs: Austin label batch

  • Size: 30mm × 30mm
  • Format: PDF (multi-label sheet)
  • Sheet layout: 3 columns × 8 rows
  • URL: Full device detail path
  • Unauthenticated scan: Redirect to login, then device

Existing labels unchanged

QR Config does not regenerate codes already printed. If Carlos changes size after printing 62 labels, only the next bulk batch uses the new settings.
