ITAM / Asset Tagger
Audit Mode
Walk the Austin office 3rd floor, scan every labeled device, and record what Carlos physically verified, ready for Maya's quarter-end sign-off.
Real-world scenario
Carlos Reyes · IT Admin at Bluewave Labs
Wednesday morning Carlos runs Audit Mode on Austin 3F. He scans 82 devices in 90 minutes, completes the session, and flags 3 WorkVerge records with no matching hardware for follow-up with team leads.
Before you begin
- QR codes generated and attached to most devices
- Mobile or laptop with camera for scanning
Overview
Audit Mode is for formal physical inventories. Each scan is tied to an audit session with timestamps, unlike casual QR Scanner lookups. Carlos runs Austin walkthroughs; Maya uses reports to confirm coverage before quarter-end.
Step-by-step
- 1
Open ITAM → Physical Assets → Asset Tagger → Audit Mode
Carlos starts a new audit session named "Austin 3F. Q2 2026" before entering the floor.
- 2
Walk the workplace with QR labels ready
Bring printed labels for any devices still missing stickers from yesterday's bulk generate.
- 3
Scan each device QR code
Scan desk-by-desk on the Austin 3rd floor. WorkVerge records device ID and timestamp per scan.
- 4
Note gaps as you go
If a desk has hardware with no label, note the asset tag; generate a QR code after the walkthrough.
- 5
Complete the audit session
Click Complete Audit. Results save for the Audit Reports tab and Maya's compliance review.
What gets recorded
- Device ID and display name (e.g. MacBook Pro 14. AUS-ENG-042)
- Scan timestamp
- Audit session name and auditor (Carlos Reyes)
- Workplace context (Austin Office, 3rd floor scope)
Unscanned ≠ deleted
